College is Here!

UCLA is officially my new home! And so far it has treated me fairly well :D
It is not easy coming here as a first year student and first generation. It can be so overwhelming with all the information we receive and all but it slowly but surely works out.
So far I have been here for 5 days and they have been the most confusing yet fun days ever. Since I have been exploring the many wonders of UCLA here are some.
Second day: We had a huge welcome meeting in Pauley. I went from a 130 something grad class to thidwkjngeifjndkfngigoef.
I have done a lot of walking so..
I found cool abstract art displayed which I have no idea of its meaning or comprehension of the object itself, BUT I dig it.
Naked lady statue in the middle of the pavement. Great spot for everyone to observe, clever.
Creative door stops. Never thought of it. Gosh so much creativity!
I also had Taco Bell Locos Doritos Tacos (I think that is what they are called) for the first time ever! Thanks to my friends and roomies. They were really good, better than what I expected.
While on one of my journeys to find a building I bumped into this poster of James Franco.. yes I fan-girled a bit so I took a picture. What an inspiration, love him.

On the third day we were required to do volunteer work. We ended up painting a wall at a Girls and Boys club for younger kids which I think worked out pretty nicely. :)
My roomies and I were on the hunt for a building on campus and passed by this one which had a very interesting quote on top of the entrance. "Nothing is too wonderful to be true."

HAPPY FALL :)

Wedding Party

Saturday September 14, 2013 was pretty eventful.
I had not been to a wedding in AGES so I was pretty excited about this one.
Unfortunately, I do not have any pictures with the bride and groom since they were being professionally taken and I think the pictures will be posted online later but anyway this is how my day went. The mass was beautiful, Maria looked so gorgeous in her wedding gown and Cesar looked real spiffy in his suit; it was all kinds of romantic for the cute couple. Apparently they got married in the same church in which I was baptized when I was about a year old, and I had never been there before since then. The only thing that sucked was that we were in like 100 degree weather which was not the business. Anyway after that we drove home and after spending like 2 hrs doing my sister's, my mom's, and my own hair we were finally ready!
When we arrived at the hotel where the party was taking place. My mom's hair is naturally really curly so I was really proud of what I did to her hair.
We even had assigned seats and all it was very organized. There was also a photo booth which me and the girls took over and it eventually ended up not working anymore.. Not sure if it was us or the other little kids that kept going in there as well haha.
YES best dinner ever! I do not like adult food yet. The meat they were serving was red! yuck, and I am personally not much of a dry chicken fan either. So HELLO Kids Meal ;D
Terrible lighting I know, but I had the best night ever with her. Lupita is super fun to be around and we always have stuff to catch up on. <3 Hopefully I'll see her again soon. :)
These are just SOME of the pictures we took from the photo booth I have a lot more but obviously they would not all fit in this post.
Unflattering angle ftw!
They also gave different kinds of candy at the wedding as you can see by the picture I was pretty happy about that since I have a sweet tooth. :) & yes I know, I only wore eyeliner and some blush, maybe later I'll get into doing heavier makeup but I feel that if I do it now I'll just look stupid since I am not used to it yet.
After the wedding I had to drive home since my parents had had some drinks at the party, they weren't drunk (just saying). I was so exhausted from the whole day and I was ready to catch some snooze, but overall I had a GREAT time and wish the newly wed a very happy life together. <3 :)

Hair History

I have come to realize that through out my 18 years there have been many many changes to my hair. So I decided I make a post about it, cause its crazy how much it has changed.. it practically has a life story of its own.

At 3 years old (I think) with my Dad <3
When I was really young I had a full head of beautiful curls. My mom says I would wake up with a cute afro every morning because of how curly my hair used to be. Even though it looks like my hair was done by some curling iron, it was not, as a kid I did not have the patience or knowledge to stay still for someone to apply heat to my hair. Imagine? God, that would have been disastrous.

At 5 years old(right) 6 years old(left) with my little sister
By this point for some reason my curls were wearing off and my hair was turning very straight. :( I had front bangs for quite a while that my mom would "professionally" cut for me up until I was about 8 haha. I also did it once myself cause they poked my eyes and she got really mad at me.

At 13 years old.
In middle school I decided to cut my hair even shorter than what I had it before. It was in the time in which having layered hair was "cool". It still is, but I think I got a bit too excited over it because as you can tell my shortest layer is at my cheek, making me look somewhat of an egghead. The good thing was that I was able to manage it fairly easily. :)
at 15 years old
I got tired of having such short hair and decided to let it grow out a bit. This was the healthiest state of my hair to be honest until I discovered dye haha.
at 16 years old
Here I bleached my hair, you can see it a bit on the left. By this time my hair was pretty long and I wanted to add a little something to it by bleaching a bit of it on each side, which I don't remember if it looked that well but as far as the picture looks it didn't look too bad. :p
Still at 16
I guess I really liked the bleach that I decided to do an ombre type of look, but I did not want it as bold. I only changed the bottom half of my hair in little highlights so it would not be as strong and I liked it. At this point my hair was reaaally long and my friend, Jenny, was able to do a really cute fishtail braid on me. :) For the record, I was not taking a nap in Physics.. I was practicing inertia. Just saying.

Daisy(left) and I(right) at 17 years old.
Soon, I got tired of the bleach and dyed it all brown. And as everyone who knows about dye after time it begins to fade. In the picture my hair dye was fading into an orange-ish color. I personally started liking it and kept it for the summer.
Still at 17 years old
Towards the end of 2012 I wanted to start the New Year with a completely different look. Therefore, I decided to dye my hair super dark and I got my 5 year old bangs back! Talk about a throwback. I was tired of having such light hair and for winter it just felt right to go back to a dark color.
now at 18 years old
Now in the midst of summer 2013 I decided to go light once again but this time I wanted to go full on with the ombre effect. I did not feel very confident about the bottom half of my entire hair being blonde before, but now I feel pretty good about it. Keep in mind this is not easy to accomplish so I was fairly happy about how it turned out.

So that is it for now. I know I might change my hair once again in the future cause it has become somewhat of an addiction of mine. YES I am aware that dying and bleaching is not healthy at all for your hair and my hair is quite damaged but.. I am a girl so.. thats my excuse. People have asked me quite a lot about my hair, so I might to a DIY one day if I happen to re-ombre it once it grows out, or if I do another dye. :)

p.s All of my pictures except my 5th one do not have a filter so don't judge. haha

My teeth journey

(WARNING: it may be gross on first photo)

On April 18, 2011 I had oral surgery for the removal of 4 of my teeth that were extra.

You little rebel
So after that I was able to get my braces! The process is really long for that longer than I imagined. They have to put all sorts of plastic mouth pieces into your mouth for a long time while your teeth dry or else they wont stick. They also use a sour tasting liquid (a little bit) on each of your teeth which I forgot was for but it was necessary. Then after that the orthodontist positions the brackets the way it is most convenient for your bite. Once it is all done your lips are as dry as the desert and your lips feel huge because of the braces.. I hated it, but I asked for them so I had to stop complaining.

This is what I looked like.

After some time I learned to get used to them and having to check my teeth every time I ate something because otherwise it was really embarrassing having like cilantro up in there. Having to go nearly every month was not as bad as I thought. I was very lucky to have such cool people who attended me when I went to have them tightened. I lasted two years with them starting from June 23, 2011 - July 1st, 2013. It went by super quick.
My bffs for 2 years
It was a bittersweet feeling when I got them off because I had them for soo long and I was used to them already but I also wanted to see my teeth nice and straight after a 2 year wait. Fortunately, I did not suffer from much pain while I had them. I hear of people having cuts in their mouth and constant soreness. I hardly ever had any cuts and my soreness lasted only about 2 days after getting them tightened. I guess it is because I have a really high pain tolerance and can handle quite a lot (not to brag).

on the 4th of July 13
I really like my smile now, its not all ugly and crooked like before even though people claim that I did have straight teeth but I think they just don't remember or ever payed attention to my teeth.
Anyway, so after that I got an x-ray and lucky me, my wisdom teeth were ready to pop out soon but the problem was that they were coming across towards my back molars. My orthodontist recommended I get oral surgery asap before I started experiencing pain in my mouth.

Soon after a long wait of procrastination I finally made my appointment to the oral surgeon. It took me a while because I was scared to be honest. I heard all these kinds of stories from people that it was the worst pain they had ever been in and that their cheeks were swollen for ever and blah blah blah :(

I thought well what is the worst that can happen? Not having further pain in my future years regarding my wisdom teeth that sounds pretty awesome to me. Therefore, I sucked it up, grew some lady balls and had surgery today, Sept. 4. 2013. I had all sorts of wires on me to make sure my heart was still beating and that I was still breathing while during surgery which was pretty cool to watch. Later, I was put to sleep which seemed like such a blur because once they injected the anesthesia I knocked out. Then when I woke up I was completely numb from my face and looked like this..
Chubby Bunny
Not my most attractive state, but for your viewing pleasure...

After all I am glad that I got it over with and that I survived. :D
My mom is all concerned cause my cheeks are all chubby looking, she's so cute.
Hopefully the 4 holes heal quickly because I am currently super hungry. I was not able to eat nor drink anything since last night >.< and I also have a wedding that I have to attend soon!

Wish me luck! and thanks for reading (✿◠‿◠)

Bridal Shower

This weekend I went to a bridal shower of my Godparent's son's fiancé.. haha
Basically, they are considered family since we have known them for a long time now. And my mother is related to my God father and we have known the groom basically my entire life.

Anyywaaay we went and it was HOT as always in LA. I had never been to a bridal shower before so I personally had a lot of fun considering all the perverted jokes that were being thrown around. ;p

I also got to meet up with a really cool friend of mine named Lupita. It was nice considering we had not seen each other in about 2 years and the last time we did was at a Halloween Party, therefore we had a nice chat. :)

I have terrible quality photos, but thats me on the left and her on the right :]
There was also so much food I am still full from it haha
But I guess the best part of the whole bridal shower was probably seeing the transvestite performers imitating famous Latino singers. Heres a little sneak peak ;)

Paquita la del Barrio
Selena Quintanilla
I don't recognize this artist, oops

They were some very feisty and flirty "ladies", one of them sat on my dad's lap... it was HILARIOUS all you could see was my dad squinting his eyes like "omg noo". I took a little insta-vid of the performance as well which was really funny. Other than that they did a great job at entertaining all of us with their jokes and performances, I had a lot of fun!

And I also received this really cute button-like thing with the groom and bride's names on it as well as the date (which you cant really see due to my awesome camera phone). I don't know what the little pot decoration is for but I thought it was really cute ^.^

Instagram Diary 1

14 pictures of my Instagram cover a whoole lot of my summer.
-Starting from the bottom, *sings "started from the bottom now we here" kidding, that delicious looking fruit was so pretty I had to take a picture of it and it was also the best plum I have ever had haha.
-I made a tiny insta-video because I had just gotten my braces off after two very long years. :D
-Wearing my patriotic American shirt. That was the day in which my family and I were celebrating Fourth of July in Corona. :)
-The picture of many other pictures. Consisting of one of my best friends was on the day of her 18th Birthday so I decided to make a mini collage of some pictures that showed our awesome friendship in the past 4 years.
-I found this quote to speak so much to me. I have had trouble saying yes to different things and I have found that to really affect me. So from that quote on I plan on living by positive ideas for the future. :)
-My family and friends know I absolutely hate spiders. When I read this little dialogue I found it very amusing and also true cause for some reason spiders seem to think it is fine to just roam around a person's home like if it were their own, smh.
-I took a picture after a very intense workout I had with my mommy. I was so exhausted and sweaty (not the most attractive side of me) but I felt very productive and thought I should share it haha
-I am surprised many people do not know about this ice-cream and cookie place but it is so delicious! It is called Diddy-Reise, my God, not only is it affordable but it is also so damn good. And as a very good friend I took my friend Edith to try it for the first time while on a mini adventure in Westwood and Hollywood (where we also met Nathan Sykes btw, SO RANDOM).
-I had McD's one Monday with my friend Daisy in North Hollywood while on our wait to watch the taping of The Voice; it was super fun!
-From left to right: Me, Edith, Monica; I have known these girls since 2002 <3. We were at the beach having a bonfire with more friends and it was also the last day that we were all going to hang out before Edith left to the East Coast. :(
-A black and white throwback thursday picture with my sibling, Fernanda. I believe this was in 2008? Im not entirely sure but we look like fetuses haha
-My mom has such beautiful flowers I can not help myself but take a picture. The photo does not do it much justice to the rose in real life itself, but you get the point of it. Have to enjoy the small things in life.. <3
-And another throwback thursday picture to the beginning of my senior year in October 2012 when I received my Honors letterman jacket for maintaining a 3.5 or higher GPA all through HS. (I am quite nerdy sometimes) Sorry if I sounded so bigheaded on this..
-I was helping my mother make strawberries and cream the other day and I came across the cutest little strawberry ever hence the pic :P
-August is finally done and I loved it. It is now September's turn. Please be good to me. <3

Nails for September

My nails have been chipped for too long due to procrastination. And if you know me, you probably know that I always have nail polish on.

So on this very hot day I decided to change my nail polish to tangtastic savourastique by Avon.

Its a very cute summer color. I was going to go for a dull color for Fall but lately its been so incredibly hot that I decided to carry on with a bright happy color to match this melting weather :)

I really like it and I think it would look good with a dress I'll be wearing soon as well

Thanks for reading (✿◠‿◠)
